S.C. Governor Nikki Haley, State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, and SCGOP Chairman Chad Connelly held a “get out the vote for Mitt” rally this week at Westview Elementary School in Spartanburg, S.C. The speakers at this modestly attended rally, organized by Larry Bateman (vice chairman of the Spartanburg County Republican Party and leader of the Anderson Mill Elementary Precinct Club), repeatedly stressed patriotism, prayer and freedom in speeches and song.

The political speeches were intermingled with original songs from Dr. Nicki Taylor, who exhorted the crowd in one composition to “take America back” and spoofed Welfare and Obamacare with another song that included the refrain: “Just send us our monthly welfare check, and we will be your slave.” Taylor said that this particular anthem was aimed at the 47 percent of Americans that Mitt Romney recently criticized for lack of personal responsibility.
And people wonder why the Republican Party is known as the party of “angry white guys.”
By the way, if anyone took video of Dr. Taylor’s song (which we have no doubt is worthy of a Grammy) please feel free to send it to editor@palmettopublicrecord.org.
It’s not racist since, we don’t care what color you are, once you take the government’s “help” on a permanent basis you become a slave to the government, white, black, brown it doesn’t matter.
By this definition, 99.9% of homeowners in the U.S. are “slaves.”
Sure, there’s absolutely no racial component to referring to welfare recipients as “slaves.” Historical context, social context? Nope, don’t exist.
How stupid can one person be? This is one of the most ignorant remarks ever! I am on disability, therefore I am a slave? Really? Thanks, I needed a nudge to decide how to vote this year…that helps!
