The group Conservation Voters of South Carolina is endorsing 33 State House candidates who it says promote eco-friendly policies.
The environmental lobbying group endorsed candidates in 13 Senate races and 20 House races. Their support was split between 21 Republicans and 12 Democrats.
The Conservation Voters group did endorse several general election candidates such as sens. John Courson (R-Richland) and Nikki Setzler (D-Lexington), and reps. Joan Brady (R-Richland), Laurie Funderburk (D-Kershaw) and Bakari Sellers (D-Bamberg).
“Candidates like to talk the “green” talk, but many are tempted by another kind of green,” the group said in a statement on its website. “Polluters, big developers and other powerful interests have deep pockets and little regard for the South Carolina we love.”
Conservation Voters and its political action committee push environmental legislation regarding conservation, health and green jobs issues. The group said it would issue more endorsements after the primary elections.
