State Rep. Thad Viers (R-Myrtle Beach) was forced to drop out of the SC-7 congressional race today after being arrested for harassing an ex-girlfriend, according to Myrtle Beach Online. But judging from his mugshot, he certainly doesn’t seem too bothered by it.
Having worked in local news for over half a decade, we’ve seen a LOT of wacky mugshots. However, it’s safe to say Rep. Viers’ grin will go down in history as one of our favorites.
Viers was one of the GOP favorites for South Carolina’s newly-created congressional district, and his unceremonious exit from the race leaves former Lt. Governor Andre Bauer with an excellent shot at the Republican nomination. Rep. Viers previously announced he would not seek reelection for his State House seat, so his next move is currently unclear.
In any case, we’re glad Viers seems to be taking everything in stride.
