COLUMBIA, SC — A new website focusing on South Carolina policy and politics launched today at PalmettoPublicRecord.org, according to the blog’s editor, Logan Smith. Palmetto Public Record
goes beyond inflated political rhetoric and “he-said/she-said” journalism, and seeks to add a balanced voice to South Carolina’s conservatively-dominated political dialogue.

The blog is divided in to categories to assist navigation by policy topic.
Topics include jobs and the budget, education, infrastructure,
immigration, as well as day-to-day political news from the State House,
the Governor’s office and South Carolina’s congressional delegation.
Smith began posting blog entries over a month ago on Facebook and
Twitter, and the blog’s social media following has grown enormously
since then.

“In South Carolina’s increasingly extreme political climate, a noticeable void exists in the blogosphere,” said Smith. “Palmetto Public Record will fill that void through fair analysis of political and policy news that directly affects the Palmetto State.”

Smith joined Palmetto Public Record in November, and has a track record
for being first to key political stories during his work at WIS-TV as
an online journalist and reporter for over five years. A graduate of the
University of South Carolina with a degree in Electronic Journalism, he
brings experience and a sharp pen to the blog’s daily updates.
